For the 64th Godot Wild Jam, I wanted to make a game that imitated something you might find on the Nintendo 64, which presented a challenge for the soundtrack. Unlike its contemporaries, the N64 did not use optical media - since Nintendo had spent the years prior burning bridges with just about every CD drive manufacturer out there - which meant that games for the system had to be built out of a limited number of samples, as was the case on the SNES before it.

To recreate this aesthetic, I exported a small number of notes from each instrument I was using, compressed them heavily, then used FL Studio's DirectWave to replace the original instruments with the new, lower-resolution samples.

The game itself is unfinished, due to multiple members of the team having to step away for various reasons, but I'm still happy to have been part of the project, as it was a chance to try something a bit outside the norm.
